Adventure is a non-denominational Christian church that is anything but boring. When you come for a service you'll find a friendly,laid-back, cafe-style atmosphere that you can ease into. You don't need to dress up! We have three unique music styles every week and lessons include film clips that are both entertaining and get your mind and heart working together to consider God's truths. There's always something good happening at Adventure. We're an expanding group filled with people of all ages and backgrounds but especially young families and singles. You can easily remain anonymous in the crowd or hang-out in one of our Discovery Groups to grow spiritually and meet people just like you. Even though Adventure is very non-traditional in style, we are deeply committed to the timeless truth of Jesus and the Bible. We are a Christ-centered, Bible-believing, non-denominational church who loves God and people. Our mission is to journey along side of you on life's greatest Adventure: Knowing God! The goal of the week is to train the kids to survive a natural disaster (usually a tornado) without their parents until help arrives. The usual scenario for them involves a tornado that deprives them of shelter, requiring them to basically live on what they can find. On the first day, we teach them to make a survival bag from clothing the storm has scattered across a large field. They then begin to store their survival tools and resources in the bag they create that first evening at camp—and they carry it with them all day long, every day, until they go home. (Many parents tell us that the bags go into the kids rooms at home and the kids strategically place the bags in a place of honor, often carrying them on family vacations or family outings.)
1. To create those bags, we need clothes to scatter on the field! If you have old blue jeans or old sweatshirts (with or without hoods) that you could donate for this cause, please just drop them at the Welcome Center. These make the best survival bags for the kids!
2. If you could donate a heavy duty tarp (at least 6x10), that tarp would really help us provide shelter building material for the kids whose parents may not actually complete the pre-camp list of supplies.
3. If you could donate some cans of 100% DEET bug spray (OFF, Cutters, REPEL, Coleman—whatever) that would help us out a lot. Last year, the record was 130 mosquito bites on one camper in less than 24 hours. :)
4. If you can just remember to pray for these kids, that too, is massive. Many of these kids are inner city kids from rough
situations, and this camp is a last ditch effort to reach them before their teen years fully begin.
Thank you for your assistance!
